Student Ministry
Grades 6-12
Belong.
Student Ministry is more than an awesome place for students to go and faith together!
It’s a family for you to connect and belong. Emerywood students are unashamedly themselves and invite you to be that too.
We believe that God created us all differently to be different and want to walk through life with you as we learn together to love like Jesus.
Student Ministry Sundays
Keep up with the vespers schedule on Instagram (@emerywoodstudents)
and by subscribing to the youth email newsletter.
Sundays look a bit different for the Student ministry at Emerywood. We realize that Sunday morning may not be the best time for you to mentally wrestle with the tough conversations of scriptures sometimes, so the students have small groups that meet throughout the week. Each small group is divided by faith stage rather than grade and on Sunday Mornings we gather around the table to enjoy coffee and breakfast together as we discuss and do life together.
Sunday evenings the youth gather together for an intentional time of worship and reflection. Vespers are each Sunday evening from 6:00PM – 8:00PM and Dinner is provided each week. Be sure to join us Sunday evenings for a relaxed time of food, games and worship. Doors open at 5:30 for the game room and Dinner is served at 6PM before moving into the Vespers Chapel at 6:30 for games, worship and a time of reflection.
Student Ministry Wednesdays
Wednesday Evenings are a more relaxed conversational space over difficult topics and great desserts.
Each week we gather and travel together to a different dessert location where the formative conversations and deep discussions of theology can happen naturally around the table.
Yearly Activities
Emerywood Students rotate between yearly activities Spring Retreat/Trip, Fall Retreat/Winter Ski Trip, and Disciple Now retreats. Each year we participate in 2 of these activities. In addition to these events during the school year, The Student Ministry participates in UniDiversity Each July and a Mission Trip that coincides with the Church’s overall Missional Emphasis. We believe that Students are an integral part of the life of the church and therefore should participate in Intergenerational Mission opportunities with both children and adults as well.
Recent Trips
The 2017 Winter retreat was at Disney World in January with 2000 other students from around the country in 3 different denominations. The long weekend was a fantastic time of bondingand growth as our students were challenged to put their dreams for each other and the world into words and make them a reality.
Our Fall retreat was a great weekend at Ocean Isle where we looked at what it means to be created in the Image of God and how we can better bear witness to the One who loves each of us as who we are in our core. Next Summer in addition to camp, our Students will have the opportunity to lead a mission team for a 2-week international immersion mission experience to Zambia to work alongside the Emert Family who have served there for the past 4 years.
