Children’s Ministry

At Emerywood Baptist Church, we take our commitment to God’s most precious gifts as a high calling. Through study, worship, and fellowship, we strive to provide our youngest members with a strong foundation for their faith. We seek to communicate that they are valued, protected, and celebrated by the congregation of the church.

Nursery

(Infants through Pre-school)

Our nursery is staffed by both childcare professionals and volunteers. We provide loving, engaging, and age appropriate nursery care for the children. The nursery is open Sundays from 9:30 to 11am and during various other church activities.

Sunday Morning

Godly Play & Worship Wonders

During worship following the Children’s Sermon, children are invited to their own space for an age specific lesson during Worship Wonders every 1st & 3rd Sunday.

For Bible Study on every 2nd and 4th Sunday morning at 11:15am, children K-5 are using the Godly Play curriculum. Each Sunday, the children enter into the holy space created just for Godly Play. A story teller begins by sharing the lesson and kids get to experience wondering and discovery in new ways. Then the kids get to “work for God” in their free, quiet play.

From puzzles, to story reenactments, to crafts, or books, there are many options for all to stay engaged. The next phase is “the feast” where they are reminded of the Lord’s Supper and get to fellowship with each other over a snack. Lastly, as each child leaves the space, he/she is anointed with a blessing for the week.

Worship

Children are encouraged to come to the Sanctuary for worship. Each Sunday, the children are welcomed to the front for a children’s sermon. Afterwards the preschoolers leave to go back to the nursery. On the 1st and 3rd  Sunday of the month we offer Worship Wonders for Kindergarten to 3rd grade. On those other Sundays, we offer “Busy Bags” Books and other things that pertain to the theme of worship that week.

Outreach

Because we believe it is never too early to start teaching the importance of the world around us, throughout the year the Children’s Ministry exposes the children to various mission opportunities. From drives to collect food or supplies, to making cards, to annual events, we are illustrating how to be grateful for what we have and that everyone has a calling to make a difference.
