Caleb is a native of Louisville, KY, but mostly was raised across Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. After starting college in Mississippi he transferred and graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, AL with a major in Religion and minors in Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy and History. After Graduation Caleb and his wife, Mary Beth moved to Richmond, VA where they attended The Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and earned their Masters of Divinity. Caleb, has worked in churches throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Virginia for the past 10 years. He and his wife have a daughter Ava, and 2 dogs, Moses and Wrigley.
Caleb is passionate about life, coffee, and sports, particularly The Alabama Crimson Tide (Roll Tide!) and The Chicago Cubs believing that every year is “the year”. Caleb doesn’t believe that strangers exist, and loves to share stories with new friends over coffee or chipotle. He and his family are very excited to be in High Point and at Emerywood and is excitedly listening and learning about what God is doing through Emerywood.
On Staff since 2005, Kelley has a heart for Children. As a Mother of three, Kelley feels that one of the greatest of God’s gifts to us, his people, is the gift of a child. The raising of a child is a sacred responsibility, and Kelly subscribes to the “It takes a Village” philosophy. She is proud and grateful to be a part of the Village that is Emerywood Baptist Church.
Dr. Foster is the Chair of the Department of Music and Director of Choral Activities at HPU. He has taught at the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas and Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and previously served as the Director of Worship Arts Ministries at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dr. Foster received a Doctor of Music Arts degree (DMA) in Choral Conducting from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master of Sacred Music degree (MSM) from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and the Bachelor of Music Education degree (BM Ed) in Choral Conducting and Voice from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Marcia has served as the principal organist/pianist at Emerywood Baptist Church in High Point for twenty years. She has performed extensively on the Piedmont Artists concert series, most recently in April of 2012 with the High Point University Chamber Singers under the direction of Marc Foster.
Assistant Professor of Music, High Point University, Marcia directs the keyboard division of the music department, offering piano and organ lessons to more than eighty music majors and non-majors. She has performed in more than fifty concerts during her tenure at HPU.
Marcia received the master of music degree in piano performance from the University of Wisconsin at Madison where she held a teaching assistantship in class piano and accompanying. Piano studies were with Tait Sanford Barrows and Jack Radunsky. She received the bachelor of music degree with honors from Salem College where she studied piano with Clemens Sandresky and organ with Margaret Mueller. She completed a summer term of music and art history study in Asolo, Italy through Salem College.
Marcia is a longtime member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and the High Point Piano Teachers Association. Her students perform regularly in events of these organizations and in many other area venues.
A North Carolina native, Lisa has held the position of staff secretary since January, 2001. She works with the Senior Minister, staff, and deacons on agendas and communications. She is also the editor of the monthly newsletter, the “Ventures” and produces all publicity materials and the Sunday bulletins. Lisa shares concerns of the congregation with our Senior Minister and deacons.
Lisa is married to John, and they have one son, Hudson.
Olivia has been the housekeeper at Emerywood Baptist since April, 2001. She takes care of all facility cleaning, working with the House and Grounds, and Kitchen teams.
Olivia is married to Edgar and they have four children: Edgar Jr, Miriam, Benjamin, and Joel. They also have three grandchildren.
Rick Dowdy was hired in May, 2007, to assist with the maintenance for the buildings and grounds. He also keeps the building and grounds secure.
